What is NextGen Development Program?
The goal of the NextGen Development Program is to empower young Muslims with leadership, communication, and advocacy skills, grounded in Islamic tradition and best practices, to become better Muslims, better neighbors, and better citizens.
The time to develop our next generation of Muslim activists is now! This training retreat caters to young Muslims (HS Seniors 18+, college students, and recent grads) who are passionate about a domestic or international human rights cause.
NextGen program plans to train and mentor 50 young Muslim activists and leaders over a period of one year (2021-2022).
Classes & Skill Training (Virtual)
Classes based on Quran verses & Hadith (Online)
- Understanding Prophetic Mission: Understanding of the Prophetic struggle for Al-Qist: justice, fairness, and equity. (Quran 57:25)
- Critical success Strategies: 3 c’s of the Prophetic success strategies: Concern, Communication & Coalition
Skills training (Online):
- Spokesperson training
- Media training
- Organizing training
- Lobbying and advocacy training
- One on one relational meeting training
- Event management training
- Networking training
- Coalition building training
- Coping Skills
On Assignment Training (Virtual / or in Person) 10 weeks minimum
- Each participant of the training and classes will be assigned to work on a cause with a professional in that field to work for 10 weeks.
- Each participant will choose which 10 weeks work for them.

Networking (Virtual)
- Peer Network: All NextGen fellows will be a part of NextGen alumni program
- Coalition: Each participant will be offered an opportunity to work with a coalition or cause.
Starting:
Sept 11th, 2021 (Orientation): 10 month commitment
Most classes will be Saturdays 10am-12pm
Target age group:
- High school seniors or mature Juniors
- College or university students
- Recent graduates
Admission Fee:
$400 per student. $300 (early bird registration before August 15th)
Financial assistance is available for deserving students.
